Saturday 24th, Sunday 25th and BH Monday 26th August 2013
The stunning Stonyhurst college plays host to our next food festival. Especially for the bank holiday weekend we will be putting on a 3 day extravaganza at this amazing, historic location and we can't wait!
So what's the recipe for the weekend? Take over 80 local producers inside & out, offering a great mix of the finest local produce - add to that Hot food offered from our fantastic hot street food vendors - on the menu you'll find everything from Oven-baked pizzas, to Thai pies and twisted potatoes, in-fact almost anything your taste buds desire! Pour in some great drink from our fine drink producers and bars and stir in a large dose of great live music, child friendly entertainment & a fun, friendly atmosphere! And there you have it - the perfect recipe for a fun foodie day out for the whole family!
We want you to get involved. This year there is more opportunity than ever for you to be a part of GBFF. On the Onionring Stage you'll find our Cake-Off tasters deliberating over which cake they prefer, get there early enough and you can sign up to be a judge! Or come and watch some crazy ...erm, we mean courageous souls taking on the Men V Food challenges - are you brave enough to enter?! Listen to one of the great talks by our artisan producers, they're free and there's almost always tasters! Cast your vote in the taste challenge to decide whether you can tell the difference between the fantastic treats on offer from our great producers and the supermarket equivalent - we know where our vote would go. Or join us in the beautiful gallery upstairs in the college for one of our chef demonstrations - we have even arranged for Mr Simon Rimmer to be there for you on Saturday (admission to all chef demo's is included in your entry fee - but get there quick - as they are very popular and spaces limited!!)
For the littleuns, we’ve made sure that there’ll be plenty of things to amuse them throughout the day (if the kids are amused you can stay longer!!) Glutch & Slugs will be on hand to keep the little sprites happy & entertained with some brilliant story-telling, craft workshops & face-painting. These will be running throughout the day, children can join in part way through so hopefully everyone should get chance to take part and best of all... they’re totally free! And why not let the kids have fun at one of our Kiddy Cook sessions, let them get their hands dirty having fun with hands-on gastronomic experiments and recipes, encouraging them to learn about good food and to explore new flavours. They get to cook, you get to chill out & leave all the mess for us to clean up (*please book your place on the day. A charge of £3 per child, £5 for 2 applies).
So come and join us. Taste, try and buy. Bring your blanket and sit out for the day enjoying live music, beautiful surroundings and our amazing culinary treats! This is the perfect recipe for a fun foodie day out for the whole family. We even welcome well behaved dogs on leads too! (*outside only)
